Overview

City Institute, a program of DXF led by Jeanette Pierce, shares lessons learned from Detroit to inspire individuals, organizations and cities to innovate for a better future.

Jeanette has been recognized for her work by Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the Top Forty under 40, by DBusiness Magazine as a Thirty in their 30’s, and by Detroit Free Press as a Shining Light Future Leader Award.

Core Programming

  • Learning Journeys:

    • In-depth experiences that focus on Detroit as a classroom including site visits, panel discussions, and case studies in partnership with Detroit leaders and communities

  • City Experience Program

    • Consultation and resources to help cities craft interactive experiences that connect locals and newcomers to the people, places and projects that make each city unique

  • Keynotes + Workshops

    • Presentations and interactive workshops to share Detroit’s lessons learned at events and conferences locally and around the world

  • Virtual Experiences

    This new way of telling Detroit’s story allows City Institute to provide even more context than normal by utilizing photos, infographics, and other tools that add to the narrative.

    We offer virtual experiences for any of our core programming plus:

    • Virtual City Experience Consultation: Helping other cities and organizations transition existing programming to virtual or with the creation of new immersive virtual experiences

    • Customized Group Experiences: Customized live or recorded webinars, tours, and experiences for team building, new hire orientation, school field trips and even family celebrations
