Frequently Asked Questions
What if the weather forecast calls for inclement weather?
Tours will occur indefinitely, rain or shine, unless a severe weather warning is issued by the national weather service on the date of the tour for the time of the tour. Weather-related cancellation or ticket transfer requests will not be approved unless submitted at least 48 hours in advance of the event start time. If a severe weather warning or event causes the tour to be canceled, City Institute will offer to transfer participant tickets to another date or provide a refund.
Can you accommodate attendees with disabilities?
Yes, we strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. To request accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact hello@thecityinstitute.com at least 2 weeks prior to your desired event.
How do I find my tour guide upon arrival?
Your tour guide will be wearing a navy/gray City Institute branded t-shirt and is expected to arrive at your event-specific meeting point 30 minutes prior to the designated start time.
What if I’m running late to the tour?
We start our tours promptly on time, but on walking tours, there is a high likelihood that the group will be at the starting point for an additional 5-10 minutes for introductions. Neither refunds nor credits/vouchers will not be provided to attendees who arrive late.
Will restrooms be available during the tour?
Yes, each route includes at least one stop with a restroom available to our groups.
On walking tours will I be standing and walking the whole time?
Throughout any walking tour, there will be at least one to two opportunities for attendees to sit and take a break. We stop walking frequently, but we do recommend that you plan accordingly to travel the distance that we anticipate covering, which will generally be listed in the description. Planning for the comfort of you and anyone attending with you is key.
Can I bring my dog on the tour?
For the comfort and safety of all attendees, we are requesting that attendees only bring certified service dogs if necessary.
